Local Radio Station Confronts Fascism in America

The chaos and destabilizing nature of the Trump administration’s actions mere weeks after inauguration call for frank conversations about the current state of democracy in the United States. The latest episode of Handball Court Radio’s Revolution Report pulls no punches in its bold and necessary analysis of the Trump administration’s fascist tendencies.

The hard-hitting episode, which first aired on Friday, Feb. 21 on Live365, marks a shift in coverage for the growing station. Hosted by Sarah Livings-Walsh and Analisa Venolia, Handball Court Radio’s flagship show Revolution Report has amassed thousands of listens since its debut in October 2024. Previously featuring discussions on a wide range of topics, from intersectional feminism to ways to practice sustainability in everyday life, Revolution Report is now entering an era dedicated to combating the Trump administration’s authoritarian efforts and challenging its listeners to take action.

“We couldn’t ignore what Trump and Musk have been doing to our country and act like it was normal,” said Livings-Walsh. “We wanted to have honest conversations with our listeners about what’s happening and what we can all do to fight back.”

Revolution Report pulls from Umberto Eco’s essay “Ur-Fascism” and highlights chilling parallels to Nazi Germany in its analysis of the fascist tactics and traits of the Trump administration. Despite the gravity of the subject matter, the episode leaves listeners with a sense of hope.

“These are frightening times,” said Venolia. “But as scary as they are, we wanted to tell our listeners that we will get through this together.”

Listeners can tune in to this crucial episode on Live365, where it is airing at the top of every hour until Thursday, March 6. The episode will be available for streaming on Spotify and Apple Podcasts on Friday, Feb. 28.
